The main responsibilities of a DIGITAL TRADING MANAGER include:

Key accountabilities:

 

      Own the digital trading performance of the skip hire proposition on pandarecycling.co.uk, with accountability for revenue, conversion rate, and customer engagement metrics.

      Manage the skip hire trading calendar, coordinating promotional activity, pricing changes, and product updates across the site in line with commercial priorities.

      Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly trading performance, identifying trends and anomalies and acting quickly to respond.

      Lead on-site merchandising for skip hire, including product listings, category pages, pricing presentation, availability messaging, and upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

      Work with the UX and CRO Manager to identify and prioritise conversion optimisation opportunities across the skip hire journey, from landing page through to order confirmation.

      Collaborate with the paid media and SEO teams to ensure traffic acquisition activity is aligned with on-site capability and that landing pages are optimised to convert.

      Provide clear, regular performance reporting to the Head of Digital Products and commercial stakeholders, including analysis of what is driving performance and what action is being taken.

      Work with the product and development team to brief and prioritise site improvements that will drive commercial outcomes, contributing to sprint planning and backlog grooming.

      Identify growth opportunities in new geographies, skip types, or customer segments, and work with the wider team to bring them to market through the digital channel.

      Stay close to competitor activity and market trends in skip hire and related services, feeding insight back into the trading and product strategy.

Areas of responsibility:

 

Commercial Trading:

      Own and manage the skip hire trading plan, ensuring the site reflects current pricing, availability, and promotional activity at all times.

      Identify and act on revenue opportunities including seasonal demand, geographic expansion, and product range extension.

      Manage promotional campaigns end-to-end, from briefing through to live execution and post-campaign analysis.

      Monitor competitor pricing, positioning, and digital activity and feed this insight into commercial decision making.

Conversion and On-Site Performance:

      Own the conversion funnel for skip hire, from first visit through to completed booking, identifying and resolving friction at each stage.

      Work with the UX and CRO Manager to prioritise and deliver a programme of experimentation and optimisation across key skip hire pages.

      Manage on-site merchandising to ensure product presentation, pricing clarity, and availability messaging support conversion.

      Ensure the skip hire journey performs well across all devices, with particular focus on mobile given the nature of the customer base.

 

Customer Engagement:

      Develop and maintain content and messaging across the skip hire section of pandarecycling.co.uk that builds trust, answers customer questions, and supports the buying decision.

      Work with the CRM and lifecycle team to support post-purchase engagement, including confirmation communications, repeat booking prompts, and review generation.

      Use customer feedback, reviews, and behavioural data to identify unmet needs and brief improvements into the product roadmap.

 

Data and Reporting:

      Own the performance dashboard for skip hire digital trading, tracking conversion rate, average order value, revenue, and engagement metrics.

      Provide weekly trading updates and monthly in-depth analysis to the Head of Digital Products and commercial leadership.

      Use GA4, Search Console, and any relevant CRM or order management data to build a complete picture of performance across the customer lifecycle.

      Interrogate data proactively to generate hypotheses and prioritise action, rather than reporting retrospectively.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration:

      Work on-site as an embedded member of the digital product team, participating in sprint planning and contributing to roadmap prioritisation.

      Act as the commercial voice in product discussions, ensuring that trading priorities are reflected in development decisions.

      Partner with operations and customer service teams to ensure on-site commitments around availability, lead times, and service standards are accurate and deliverable.

Liaise with marketing colleagues to align campaign activity, paid media landing pages, and email communications with on-site trading priorities.

Experience and Skills:

 

      Essential: A minimum of 4 years experience in a digital trading, ecommerce management, or online merchandising role, with direct accountability for revenue or conversion performance.

      Essential: Demonstrable track record of improving commercial performance through on-site trading activity, including pricing, merchandising, and promotional management.

      Essential: Strong analytical capability, including confident use of GA4 or equivalent analytics platforms to diagnose performance and identify opportunity.

      Essential: Experience managing a trading calendar and coordinating cross-functional activity to deliver against commercial plans.

      Essential: Ability to work at pace, balance multiple priorities, and make sound commercial judgements with incomplete information.

      Essential: Strong communication skills, with the ability to present performance data and trading recommendations clearly to both commercial and technical audiences.

      Essential: Comfortable working on-site as part of a cross-functional digital team within an agile environment.

 

      Preferable: Experience in a service-based or transactional ecommerce business, particularly one with variable pricing or availability (such as skip hire, logistics, utilities, or home services).

      Preferable: Familiarity with CRO principles and experience collaborating with UX or experimentation teams to improve conversion.

      Preferable: Experience with CMS platforms and the ability to make or brief on-site content and merchandising changes directly.
