The Financial Accountant is responsible for recurring financial reporting, balance sheet controls and reconciliations, project accounting, and providing operational support across key finance functions. The role ensures timely and accurate reporting while supporting finance operations, supplier controls, financial systems, and process and control improvements.

The main responsibilities of a FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT include:

FINANCE REPORTING

  • Prepare, circulate, and review weekly dashboards, investigate outstanding items, and coordinate follow-ups with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain Capital WIP files for all Group companies fortnightly, including following up on supporting information and project status.
  • Prepare recurring finance and operational reports on a weekly basis, as required.
  • Prepare and manage additional reports as required.

OPERATIONAL REPORTING AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY

  • Provide backup coverage for key reporting processes.
  • Cross-train in key finance functions and maintain up-to-date work instructions to ensure continuity during leave or absence.

RECONCILIATIONS AND FINANCIAL CONTROLS

  • Complete allocated balance sheet reconciliations, investigate differences, and ensure outstanding items are cleared or escalated promptly.
  • Support the monthly ledger close process, including following the reconciliation timetable and completing assigned close activities.
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations or provide backup support, and investigate any unreconciled items.

FINANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND PROCESSES

  • Improve dashboards, reports, reconciliations, and finance processes through automation and more effective use of systems.
  • Support finance improvement projects and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.

To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:

  • Strong financial accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, reporting, and data analysis skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and completion.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines across daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles.
  • Experience with ERP systems and the ability to quickly learn new financial systems. SAP or similar large-scale ERP experience is desirable.

It will also be favorable if you are knowledgeable in:

  • Clear communication and strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, integrity, and accountability.
  • Experience in a similar corporate or multi-entity environment is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards qualification, is advantageous.
