An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join O’Donovan Engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of innovative livestock handling and farm infrastructure solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role working closely with sales, manufacturing, and customers from concept through to final installation.

The main responsibilities of a MECHANICAL ENGINEER include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create accurate 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and related design tools.
Communicate job requirements clearly and concisely to manufacturing and production teams.
Design and layout farm buildings and livestock handling systems with a strong focus on animal flow, safety, and efficiency.
Read and interpret technical drawings, specify components, and ensure compliance with engineering and performance specifications.
Manage engineering projects in collaboration with the sales team, ensuring timely completion of project milestones.
Work closely with sales on the design and layout of new customer projects.
Liaise effectively with cross-functional internal teams, customers, and external suppliers.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across design, manufacturing, and processes.

• AutoCAD 2D and 3D
• Strong IT proficiency

• Knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes

REQUIREMENTS
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles including design, sketching, CAD, industrial materials, manufacturing methods, and processes.
• Proven creativity combined with solid technical expertise.
• Ability to cost projects and demonstrate strong materials knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills – visual, verbal, and written.
• Logically and technically minded with strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
• Strong knowledge of, or interest in, the agricultural and livestock sector
