As a Pre-Production Coordinator (Apparel), you will play a critical role in ensuring every product is production-ready by coordinating approvals, tracking samples, managing production timelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and overseas manufacturing partners.

The main responsibilities of a PRE-PRODUCTION COORDINATOR (APPAREL) include:

  • Coordinate all pre-production activities from product development handoff through production launch.
  • Manage and monitor production critical paths to ensure all milestones are completed on schedule.
  • Track and coordinate all sample stages, including development, fit, sales, size set, pre-production (PP), top of production (TOP), and photo samples.
  • Ensure all production approvals are completed before bulk manufacturing, including fabrics, trims, colors, artwork, packaging, labels, washes, BOMs, specifications, and technical comments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with overseas manufacturing partners, particularly China-based factories, to ensure timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Planning, Technical Design, Quality Assurance, Production, Logistics, and external vendors to maintain production readiness.
  • Organize and manage sample inventory, shipments, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate production dashboards, approval trackers, critical path reports, vendor follow-ups, and risk logs.
  • Identify potential production risks or delays and proactively drive solutions to keep projects on schedule.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and standardize pre-production workflows.
  • Prepare regular production readiness reports and provide updates to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:

  • 5–8+ years of experience in apparel production or pre-production coordination.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with Chinese apparel factories and overseas manufacturing partners.
  • Experience supporting international apparel brands or retailers.
  • Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes, production calendars, and critical path management.
  • Proven experience managing production approvals, including fabrics, trims, colors, packaging, labels, BOMs, specifications, and technical comments.
  • Experience coordinating multiple sample stages, including development, fit, sales, size set, pre-production (PP), top of production (TOP), and photo samples.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets for production tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve production risks proactively.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Apparel, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field

It will also be favorable if you are knowledgeable in:

  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) management and apparel production software.
  • Garment construction, fabric development, and trim sourcing.
  • Vendor management and international supply chain operations.
  • Lean manufacturing principles and continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Production reporting, dashboard creation, and data analysis using Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Risk assessment and issue resolution within apparel production.
  • Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and cross-functional environment.
  • Managing multiple product categories or seasonal collections simultaneously.
  • Learning and adapting quickly to new systems, tools, and evolving business processes.
