The Senior Accountant (GL) will play a key role in Checkr’s global Accounting organization. This role supports accurate month‑end close activities, prepares journal entries, and partners closely with U.S.-based teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting aligned with U.S. GAAP. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, AI‑first environment, has strong attention to detail, and can work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

The main responsibilities of a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT include:

Month-End Close & GL Activities

  • Prepare and review month-end journal entries, accruals, lease schedules, and recurring entries.
  • Support both OpEx and Cost of Revenue close processes.
  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of GL balances.
  • Assist with financial statement analysis and communicate findings to U.S. stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.
  • Contribute to process improvements, including evaluating where AI and automation can be effectively applied.
  • Support documentation updates for internal controls and audit readiness.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Cost of Revenue team, FP&A, audit teams, and other U.S.-based departments.
  • Provide clear explanations for accounting movements and support audit requests.

Audit & Compliance

  • Assist with annual audits and periodic reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accounting records are compliant with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP (mandatory).
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred; NetSuite or similar acceptable).
  • Skilled in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with Alteryx a plus.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Philippine CPA or equivalent credential is a plus (flexible as long as the candidate demonstrates strong core accounting competency).
    • Exposure to AI/automation tools (nice to have, not required).
    • Background supporting U.S. companies or multinational operations.
