Provide support to the senior accountant through assigned tasks and provide cover when there is holiday leave or sick leave for the senior accountant or other assistant accountants.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Accounts Preparation


•    Maintain assigned client accounts in Xero through reconciling bank accounts, raising required journals, uploaded statement data and maintaining system settings.
•    Setup new client Xero accounts and perform migrations from other accounting packages as
•    Encourage team development of documentation around procedures and
•    Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure coding of transactions are completed
•    Setting up receipt bank accounts and maintaining client accounts as Taxation

•    Prepare and manage BAS returns in Xero
•    Support outsourced service providers with finalising SMSF accounts and
•    Apply practice processes and procedures in preparing tax returns while ensuring research and reviews are conducted to ensure the best refund results for clients.
•    Work with the senior accountant and other assistant accountants in continually developing process and procedure documentation to drive continual improvements in quality of
•    Liaise with the ATO on client matters and Document Management

•    Maintain the client files and folders in Box.com ensuring that they are structured in line with practice guidelines.
•    Ensure that the client files in Xero practice are complete and up to
•    Continually develop and refine practice policy and procedure Registration

•    Perform trust and company
•    Manage OSR trust
•    Manage ABN and TFN
•    Lodge Long Service Leave Corporation

Success measure: The Accountant will be measured on the quality of work assigned, meeting assigned deadlines and ensuring that client affairs are completed in a timely manner. As such, hours of work each day is not considered a measurable output of quality and results will be the sole measure used to assess the individual’s performance in the position.

Personal Situation: Must be mature and domestically secure. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required. May be striving financially but not desperate or in serious debt.
Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understands the principles of
accounting, taxation and law. Appreciates need for consistency within practice procedures and processes along with experience in managing quality of practice information.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2010 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and email.
Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash- flow,
overheads, etc. Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.
Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to
demonstrate success and experience managing customers. Ideal background would be someone with 2 to 4 years’ experience in a small practice dealing with clients on a daily basis.
