The main responsibilities of a SR. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Architect, manage, and optimize Okta and Active Directory environments.
- Own SSO integrations, MFA policies, lifecycle automation, and identity governance.
- Design automated provisioning/deprovisioning workflows using APIs and scripting.
- Enforce least-privilege access models and compliance-aligned access policies.
- Manage password policies, authentication standards, and secure access practices.
2. Cloud, SaaS, & Collaboration Platforms
- Administer Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Security &
Compliance). - Manage SaaS integrations and ensure secure interoperability across systems.
- Support AWS and hybrid cloud infrastructure operations.
- Maintain collaboration, messaging, and productivity platform health and governance.
3. Virtualization & Infrastructure Platforms
- Manage Nutanix clusters, virtualization environments (AHV/VMware), and supporting
storage/network infrastructure. - Oversee Windows Server, Linux systems, and core services.
- Support server room operations, rack infrastructure, and physical systems as needed.
- Implement lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, and hardware refresh
planning.
4. Endpoint and Device Management
- Manage endpoint platforms including Intune, JAMF, Workspace ONE, Carbon Black,
and patch management tools. - Maintain compliance baselines across macOS, Windows, and Linux devices.
- Implement endpoint monitoring, configuration enforcement, and vulnerability
remediation. - Ensure secure deployment and update processes across all endpoints.
5. Automation and Platform Engineering
- Replace manual administrative workflows with automated pipelines and scripted
solutions. - Develop automation using Python (primary), PowerShell, and Bash.
- Integrate with Okta SDKs, Microsoft Graph API, Nutanix APIs, REST APIs, and other
platform frameworks. - Build Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management solutions where
applicable. - Automate audit reporting, monitoring responses, and operational workflows.
6. Monitoring, Observability, & Incident Management
- Design and maintain monitoring and alerting across applications, endpoints, and
infrastructure. - Leverage tools such as Splunk, Tenable, BigFix, and related platforms.
- Improve system observability through metrics, logging, and external system outputs.
- Lead incident detection, response, remediation, and root cause analysis.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement corrective and preventative
improvements.
7. Security and Compliance
- Implement platform hardening standards across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and industry frameworks.
- Manage vulnerability scanning, remediation workflows, and audit readiness.
- Develop disaster recovery, redundancy, and rollover strategies.
- Maintain updated recovery plans and test failover processes regularly.
8. IT Operations and Governance
- Develop and enforce system usage policies, documentation standards, and operational best practices
- Establish structured change management and release processes.
- Support helpdesk and IT operations maturity, ensuring scalable service delivery.
- Partner cross-functionally with DevOps, Security, Engineering, and Business teams.
- Manage vendor relationships and escalation processes (Microsoft, Okta, Nutanix, etc.).
To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:
- At least 5 years experience similar and related to the role.\
- Strong expertise in:
o Okta (SSO, lifecycle management, MFA)
o Microsoft 365 ecosystem
o Nutanix and virtualization platforms
o Active Directory
o Endpoint management platforms (Intune, JAMF, Workspace ONE) - Proficiency in macOS, Windows, and Linux administration.
- Exposure with tech companies is a plus
It will also be favorable if you are knowledgeable in:
